MESSAGE FROM NEW BOARD CHAIRPERSON
I am honored to have been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Zenshuji Board. First and foremost, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our hero, the compassionate and invincible Carolyn Abe Hashiba who has diligently cared for and upheld Zenshuji since 2007 as the Chairperson of the Board. And we deeply appreciate her continuous support and guidance as the Board Adviser. Thank you, Carolyn, your presence and guidance are more invaluable to us than ever before!
Last year marked a significant milestone as we celebrated the 100th anniversary of Zenshuji. As we look ahead to the next 100 years, our goals are to expand our outreach to the local community to spread the universal teachings of Zen and continue to preserve Japanese cultural heritage. To achieve this, we plan to organize more workshops and Zen lectures throughout the year, fostering a sense of community and engagement at Zenshuji once again.
We encourage you to reach out to any of the Board members with your ideas and suggestions regarding the temple's events and operations.

OBON CARNIVAL - July 20 & 21
This year, we will have Zenshuji Obon Carnival on July 20th and 21st. We are looking for volunteers in many areas. Please contact the temple if you are available. Thank you always for your support!

July 7 (Sunday) - Chochin Hanging 9 am
July 14 (Sunday) - Container Clean Out 9 am
July 18 (Thursday) - Booth Construction 5 pm
July 19 (Friday) - Pre-Obon Food Preparation all day
July 20 & 21 (Saturday & Sunday) - Obon Carnival 12 to 7 pm
July 21 (Sunday) - Post-Obon Cleanup 7 pm
July 23 (Tuesday) - Final Carnival Cleanup 5 pm
