WEDDINGS 結婚式

 

- The weddings can be held in either a traditional or modern format, in either Japanese or English. It is not necessary to be a member of the temple (or even a Buddhist for that matter) to have these ceremonies performed. Anyone is welcome.

 

 

 

 

 

BABY BLESSINGS (Hatsu-Mairi) 初参り

 

- Traditionally in Japan, one month after birth (31st day for boys and 32 days for girls), parents and grandparents bring the child to a shrine to express gratitude to the deities for the birth of a baby and have a priest pray for his or her health and happiness. At Zenshuji, we offer Hatsu-Mairi (the first visit to the temple) service for new born’s healthy growth. Usually this service is practiced between one month and 100 days after birth.

- Shonanoka (7th day), Sijukunichi (49th day), Hyakkanichi (100th day), Isshu-ki (1st year), San-kaiki (2nd year), Shichi-kaiki (6th year), Jusan-kaiki (12th year), Goju-kaiki (49th year), Hyaku-kaiki (99th year), Tanagyo, etc.
