BISHOP GENGO AKIBA RETIRES

After 13 years at Zenshuji Soto Mission of North America, Bishop Akiba announced at the January, 2010 Board of Directors meeting he plans to retire as Bishop effective March 31, 2010. The role of Bishop is expanding in many ways and  the responsibilities are becoming more demanding. He feels this is a good time to step down and enjoy the comfort of his Oakland home and venture into some new activities.

We will be hosting a Retirement Luncheon for Bishop Akiba on March 21st after O-Higan service. We thank Bishop Akiba for his years of dedication and wish him a happy, healthy, and well deserved retirement!    Reservation Form  $15.  Please reserve by March 15th.

We will also have a BAKE SALE and the proceeds will go toward the Repair Fund (Mr. Hideo Mura and Mr. Sam Matsushita have been trying their best to keep up with the repairs). With the recent major rains, the aging Temple has encountered some water damage, flooding and wear & tear areas that will needed to be repaired. So please come and buy baked goodies provided by the Nagamine Family, Quon Family, Georgene Salisbury (ribbon-winning baker of The Los Angeles County Fair), James Monarrez, Takagi Family, and Ms. Kazuko Urata.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

We would like to ask the Sr. Y.B.A. members to come out and help. The more help we have, the easier it

will be.
