SELF- DEFENSE BY SHORINJI KEMPO
Shorinji Kempo South Bay Branch Master, Ted Uekuma is offering a self-defense class starting on Sunday, April 3rd for 5 Sundays at Zenshuji. Please click on the flyer at the right for more information.
HANAMATSURI & PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Zenshuji Hanamatsuri will be held on Sunday, April 10th at 11:00 am to celebrate Buddha’s birth. We will give out the flowers after the service. In the morning we will serve Pancake Breakfast starting 8:30 am, $6 for the meal. Please check the flyer on the right for more detail.
This year the Hanamatsuri service by the Los Angeles Buddhist Church Federation (LABCF) will be held one week earlier on April 3rd from 1:00 pm at JACCC in Little Tokyo. This year's theme is "Sutra - Thread of Life". There will be a play, ‘Miraclecats’ by the children of Japanese Speaking Parents Association of Children with Challenges and a Dharma talk with visual presentation by Rev. INTRODUCTION TO ZEN MEDITATION
Starts on May 12th, 2016. 4 Thursday evenings (5/12, 19, 6/2, 9)
7:15 – 8:30 p.m.
This class series provides an introduction to Zen meditation for
beginners. It is open to people of all faiths. The classes teach you
the basic principles of Zen and Zazen meditation, and discussions
of how to practice Zen in daily life, that is, how to find inner peace
anytime, anywhere. Each class includes zazen meditation,
beginning with 10 minutes during the first class, and working up to
30 minutes at the end of the series. Some class also includes
walking meditation. The classes are led by Rev. Shumyo Kojima, a SotoZen priest who is the head minister of Zenshuji.
The registration is limited up to 12 people.
