INTRODUCTION TO ZEN MEDITATION

 

5 Thursday evenings

February 12th through March 12th, From 7:30 to 8:45 p.m

 

This class series provides an introduction to Zen meditation for

beginners. It is open to people of all faiths.  The classes include a

presentation of the basic principles of Zen and zazen meditation,

and discussions of how to practice Zen in daily life – while at work

and at leisure. Each class includes zazen meditation, beginning with 10 minutes during the first class, and working up to 30 minutes at the end of the series. Each class also includes walking meditation. Cost: $70 for the series ($35 for temple members). Register by calling Zenshuji (213) 617-0100 or by email to webmaster@zenshuji.org.   Include your name and contact information. Payment may be made at the first class. Scholarships are also available. No one is turned away for lack of funds.

Sunday, March 15, 2015 is our Spring O-Higan Service with the Monthly & Memorial Service.  We look  forward to your attendance as we use spiritual practice to perform good deeds, visit the Temple and the family grave (Ohakamairi).

We will also sponsor our Spring Bake & Craft Sale.  Our bakers & crafters are always thinking of something that will please the members.  Come early and look to see what will make your taste buds happy and craft items to give as gifts or keep for yourself.

RETIREMENT PARTY for BISHOP RUMMÉ

     

After five years of dedicated service to Zenshuji, Bishop Daigaku Rummé will be retiring from Zenshuji Soto Mission as of March 31st. During his tenure, he has promoted Soto Zen Buddhism through informative and popular lectures and zazen sessions. His enlightening Dharma Talks as well as insightful personality has affected Zenshuji in the most positive way and he will sincerely be missed. Please join us in celebrating his retirement from Zenshuji on Sunday, March 15th, as he moves forward to greater endeavors. Bento Lunch $15. Please fill out the form on the right.

We will be holding our 8th annual Casino Night & Silent Auction Fundraiser this year on Saturday, March 7th, from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
